Jakhongir Zokirov Wins Silver in Super Heavyweight at World Boxing Championships

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Jakhongir Zokirov claimed the silver medal in the super heavyweight category (over 90 kg) at the World Boxing Championships, falling to Kazakhstan’s Oybek Oralbay in the final.

Zokirov took the first round, winning 3–2 on the judges’ scorecards, and dominated the second round 4–1. However, in the decisive third round, Oralbay seized the initiative. Despite Zokirov’s counterattacks, the judges awarded the victory to the Kazakh boxer, who became the world champion, leaving Zokirov with second place.

Overall, Uzbekistan’s team earned 11 medals at the tournament: six gold, two silver, and three bronze. The team topped the overall medal count and finished second in terms of medal quality.
