'It's about the team first,' says Boskovic
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- AFC Cup leading marksman Ivan Boskovic insists he has no thoughts about claiming the individual accolade for the tournament's top scorer and is instead focussing on Nasaf defeating Kuwait Sports Club in Saturday's final.

Boskovic has scored ten times in this year's AFC Cup but with Nasaf having the potential to become the first Uzbek team to win an AFC club competition he is not thinking about personal glory.

"Claiming the top scorer award is not important for me because the first thing in my mind is helping the team to victory in the final," Boskovic told www.the-afc.com.

"Of course I will be very happy if I could contribute to the team's victory by scoring in the final as well.

The 29-year-old, who was top scorer in the 2009/10 Montenegrin top flight with a domestic record 28 goals for OFK Grbalj prior to his move to Nasaf, is no stranger to important goals.

Perhaps none more so during his time with Karshi club than the equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Al Wehdat in the second-leg of the AFC Cup semi-final that saw Nasaf through with a 2-1 aggregate win.

Reflecting on the crucial 62nd minute at the Amman International Stadium, Boskovic said:

"Every time a footballer scores a goal he feels great and his self-confidence increases.

"But we never lost faith in ourselves and eventually we got the result we wanted.

"This is the first final I have played in my life. Looking back we had some very difficult battles but it is a sweet feeling now.

"Happy events like this haven't occurred for me at the other teams I have played at and that's why I am preparing intensely for this match."
