Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin have been granted a wildcard for the Australian Open later this month, organisers said on Thursday.

Istomin, 22, played at Melbourne Park last year, Istomin advanced to the second round before losing to in four sets to local favourite Lleyton Hewitt.

Istomin was the highest-ranked Asian player not already in the main draw.
