Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, a reporting meeting was held on preparations for the Olympic Games from the beginning of 2020, the work done during the quarantine period, as well as on the health status of our athletes.
The event was attended by: employee of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Sultonov, representative of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan Rashid Talipov, representatives of the NOC headed by the president of the organization Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov, employees of the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports, the leadership of sports federations and associations.
The first to speak was the director of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Strategic Studies at the NOC, Professor Abdushukur Sadykov, who reported on the work done during the quarantine period. According to the information provided, all athletes underwent an in-depth medical examination.
According to the expert, during this period, 16 athletes were diagnosed with COVID-19 infection, 2 of them had a mild illness. The remaining 14 athletes fully recovered thanks to the efforts of doctors, and after treatment, the athletes returned to the national team.
The head of the NOC expressed his opinion in this direction.
“As our esteemed President noted in his speech at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, this period was difficult for everyone. The pandemic has negatively affected not only the health of people, but also undermined the economies of many countries. The Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports has presented sports complexes for the treatment of patients with coronavirus. In turn, we thank our doctors for ensuring a stable situation in our country. All our federations need to observe iron discipline," Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov noted.
Nazirjon Khudaykulov, advisor to the NOC President, during his speech, spoke in detail about the number of expected licenses for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. According to the forecast, our athletes can win at least 110 licenses for the Tokyo 2020 Games. In his speech N. Khudaykulov especially noted the successes and shortcomings in this direction.
“The cycle of preparation for the Olympic Games Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 is the same. In this regard, the number of licenses received is close to each other. However, we will have a completely different attitude to the preparations for the Paris 2024 Games. We currently fully support and fund all of our sports federations. In this regard, the requirements for winning licenses and medals will be different. We will work together and achieve the goals that we set for ourselves. If the specialists do not meet our requirements, we will say goodbye to them. We talked about this with our foreign coaches. In turn, we express our gratitude to our government for their help and support. We must continue to assist in the development and popularization of a healthy lifestyle, ”said Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov.
During the event, Sh. Sultanov, R. Talipov and the leaders of the federations expressed their views on the delivery of the necessary sanitary and epidemiological equipment to sports bases for the training of national teams, on further monitoring the epidemiological situation at the bases, and on strengthening breeding work.
It is noteworthy that during the meeting, the President of the NOC made a proposal to mark certain days for each sport in Uzbekistan - as days for these sports. Of course, the main goal of this proposal is to further develop and popularize mass sports and a healthy lifestyle in the country.
