Issues of strengthening cooperation with the parliaments of EU member states were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva, who is on a practical visit to Dubai, UAE, held meetings with members of delegations of the European Union parliaments.

During the meetings, issues of widespread use of the potential of parliaments in strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the countries of the European Union in the political, trade and economic spheres, as well as in issues of ensuring human rights and mitigating the effects of global climate change were discussed.

Representatives of the Austrian Parliament expressed interest in cooperation with Uzbekistan in the field of use of renewable energy sources, in particular wind energy.

At the meeting with the head of the Icelandic delegation, an exchange of views took place on establishing inter-parliamentary relations. The Icelandic side expressed interest in strengthening ties with the states of Central Asia, in particular with Uzbekistan.

During the conversation with a member of the Polish Senate, attention was paid to strengthening cooperation in overcoming the consequences of environmental problems. The Polish side proposed to implement joint projects with the European Social Fund to ensure environmental sustainability in the Aral Sea region. The parties also agreed to exchange experience on creating forests in areas subject to desertification.

At the meeting with a representative of the Romanian Parliament, attention was paid to the issue of strengthening ties between the parliaments of the two countries. It was also emphasized that in bilateral relations it is advisable to focus on such aspects as the exchange of experience in the field of education, agriculture, and scientific research.

During the conversation with the head of the Slovenian delegation, an agreement was reached to intensify inter-parliamentary cooperation by establishing close contacts between members of the parliaments of the two states.
