Issues of regional cooperation of the countries of Central Asia in the field of ecology were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 16 August 2023, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change J. Kazbekov took part in the next online meeting of the C5 + 1 participating states (Central Asia + USA) on Energy and Climate Change.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

The event was chaired by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central Asian Affairs B. Simler and Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan A. Mavlodod.

The countries participating in the platform discussed issues of jointly solving the problems of water shortage in Central Asia, developing smart agriculture in the face of climate change, as well as a phased transition to renewable energy.

The Uzbek side provided information on the programs being implemented in the country to improve the system of rational water management, regional cooperation with neighboring countries.

Proposals are presented to expand the regional dialogue on the achievement by countries of the goals to reduce emissions and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

During the event, the proposal of the Uzbek side to inform the international community about ongoing regional initiatives and commitments in the framework of global activities in the field of environmental protection and climate change was supported.
