Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to the UK, the head of the Department for Cooperation with European Countries and EU Institutions of the Foreign Ministry Aybek Shakhavdinov met with the Lord Mayor of the city of Birmingham Chaman Lal, Dunyo news agency reports.

During the conversation, issues of developing interregional ties in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed. The parties expressed mutual interest in expanding cooperation in these areas.

Special attention was paid to interaction in the field of education. The Lord Mayor of Birmingham welcomed the strong interest of Uzbek students in studying at British higher education institutions. In particular, over the past period, dozens of Uzbek students have successfully graduated from Birmingham universities.

The Lord Mayor expressed interest in visiting Uzbekistan at a mutually acceptable date.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to work on issues of organizing exhibitions, fairs, Culture Days and other joint events in Birmingham and the cities of Uzbekistan.
