Issues of city infrastructure management discussed in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An international seminar dedicated to issues of improving system of management of city infrastructure in Uzbekistan started in Tashkent on 5 July 2011.

The event was organized by the Center for Economic Research in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and the UN Development Programme.

MPs of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, representatives of ministries and departments, diplomatic corps and international organizations, as well as experts are participating at the event.

It was noted that ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan on development of city infrastructure are giving their results and potential of industrially developed cities are growing.

Uzbekistan carries out wide-scale work on developing city infrastructure. Simulating industrial-innovative development and urbanization processes play key role in preventing possible problems in the sphere.

It was said that effective use of opportunities of businesses and science can allow to deepen development of production in cities. This will serve as important factor for economic and political modernization of whole country, UzA reported.

Aleksander Puzanov, director general of Institute for City Economy (Russia), said that topic of the seminar is actual, and the Russian body is participating with its proposals on such topics as main directions of city management, including municipal finances, land resources management, modernization of city infrastructure, etc.

Participants underlined that recommendations, developed within the event, will play important role in development of the concept of further improving city management system and city infrastructure.

International seminar’s participants discussed such issues as improvement of city management in Uzbekistan, strengthening role of city budgets in implementation of infrastructure projects, improvement of statistics data gathering, and others.
