Islam Karimov congratulates Janos Ader

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov has sent a congratulatory letter to Janos Ader on his election as President of Hungary, the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan said.

Ader, nominated by the ruling Fidesz-Christian-Democratic alliance, received 262 votes in favour in a secret ballot out of 386 MPs. Ader is also member of the European Parliament.

A total of 307 lawmakers registered to vote and 302 votes cast were valid. Forty lawmakers voted against Ader, who will hold office until 2017. Next parliamentary elections will be held in 2014.
