Iran explores wool processing projects in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Akbar Sultanov, Chairman of the Uzcharmsanoat Association, held a meeting with a delegation led by Rahmatullo Khurmoli, Trade Advisor at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Uzbekistan.

During the discussions, the parties explored ways to strengthen trade and economic ties in the leather industry, prospects for joint investment projects, and matters related to export and import operations.

Iran is currently one of the key suppliers of raw materials and components for Uzbekistan’s leather sector. Uzbek manufacturers actively collaborate with Iranian companies, contributing to the industry's expansion.

The Iranian delegation proposed launching projects for the production of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) granules and adhesives in small industrial zones specializing in leather production. Additionally, wool processing initiatives were recognized as promising. The meeting included in-depth discussions on the next steps for implementing these projects.

Furthermore, Iranian companies plan to participate in the UzCharmExpo-EurAsia-2025 international exhibition, set to take place in April in Tashkent. Notably, Iran has increased the quota for Uzbek enterprises at the Iran Expo-2025, allowing 120 Uzbek companies to showcase their products.
