Ipoteka Bank Posts 392.5 Billion Soums Loss in First Half of 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ipoteka Bank reported a net loss of 392.5 billion soums for the first half of 2025, marking a sharp decline compared to the same period last year, when the bank posted a net profit of 191.8 billion soums.
The bank’s interest income rose by 7.2% year-on-year to 5.5 trillion soums. Non-interest income saw even stronger growth, increasing by 38.5% and exceeding 2.1 trillion soums.
Despite this revenue growth, the bank’s capital shrank by 10.6%, falling to 6.9 trillion soums — a sign of mounting pressure on financial stability. Total assets grew by 3.5% over the six-month period, reaching 50.7 trillion soums.
As of 1 June 2025, the bank’s loan portfolio stood at 35.4 trillion soums, down 1.4% from the same date last year.
Of particular concern is the rising share of non-performing loans (NPLs), which climbed from 6.6% to 9.5% year-on-year. This trend suggests growing risks within the bank’s credit strategy.
