IPMI experts analyzed poultry development trends and industry performance in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In recent years, Uzbekistan has seen an active development of poultry farming, as well as egg production. In January-December 2022, 8.13 billion eggs were produced in the republic, which is 4.4% more than the same period in 2021. For the period 2016-2022, the number of eggs produced increased by 32.1%.

Most of the egg production, namely 61.9%, falls on dekhkan and personal subsidiary farms, and 23.3% - on organizations engaged in agricultural activities.

This increase in egg production is due to an increase in the number of birds, while the efficiency of production (egg production of 1 hen per year) is declining. For the period 2016-2022 the number of birds increased by 45.2%. At the same time, since 2018, there has been a gradual decrease in egg production from 244 up to 215 pcs in 2021, or almost 12%.

For comparison, in Chile, the egg production is 350 eggs per head per year (1.6 times more), in Russia - 296 (1.4 times more), Egypt - 294 (1.4 times more), Israel - 254 (1.2 times more), UAE - 238 (1.1 times more).

The reasons for the low productivity may be improper feeding and care of birds, as well as the low level of adoption of advanced technologies, small size and low degree of commercialization of most farms.
