Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  An investment and trade office representing Ferghana region in Chungcheongnam-do province, South Korea, has officially opened in a ceremony held in Asan City.

The inauguration was part of a visit by a delegation from Ferghana to South Korea. The establishment of the office was agreed upon in May 2024 during a visit by the Chungcheongnam-do delegation, led by its governor, to Ferghana.

Ferghana region khokim Khayrullo Bozorov expressed gratitude to all parties involved in the creation of the office, highlighting South Korea’s importance as a strategic partner for Uzbekistan. He noted that bilateral trade volumes have doubled in recent years, reaching $7 billion, emphasizing that regional cooperation strengthens overall economic ties.

Alisher Abdusalomov, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to South Korea, remarked on the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations. He stated that the new office would further expand economic cooperation between Ferghana and Chungcheongnam-do, creating opportunities for joint ventures and trade.

The office, hosted at Sun Moon University, aims to foster collaboration in trade, investment, and education. Visitors at the opening event toured the facility and attended an exhibition showcasing Ferghana-made products.

The initiative is set to enhance opportunities for entrepreneurs from both regions, promote exports, and attract investments. A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the office and Sun Moon University to formalize their collaboration.
