International online forum was held

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 September, the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program and the World Bank Office in Uzbekistan held an international online forum.

It was attended by the First Deputy Minister for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan O. Pekos.

The work of the international online forum was divided into two sessions.

At the first session, reports were presented on the topic "Digital Development in Uzbekistan: Today’s Development and Prospects." In particular, it was noted that the implementation of the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures for the widespread introduction of digital technologies in Tashkent" and the integrated program "Digital Tashkent" approved in accordance with the decree is aimed at a complete transformation of the image of the capital of Uzbekistan through the introduction of information and communication technologies in education, healthcare, transport and housing and communal services.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 28 April 2020 No. PP-4699 "On measures for the widespread introduction of the digital economy and electronic government."

According to the resolution, by 2023 the share of the digital economy in the country’s GDP will double, the volume of services in this area will triple, and their exports will reach US$100 million.

Information was also provided on the implementation in 2020-2022 of 268 projects for the further development of e-government, telecommunications, the activities of the Technological Park of software products and information technologies, the widespread introduction of digital technologies in the real sector of the economy, as well as in the field of agriculture and water management. ...

The second session of the international online forum was devoted to the topic of using digital technologies against the COVID-19 pandemic: the ways of Uzbekistan and foreign experience in this area.

In order to further develop forms of close communication between the population and business entities with government agencies, the Unified Interactive Public Services Portal (EPIGU) has been developed. To date, 208 electronic state services are provided through the portal. During the online forum, recommendations were given to accelerate the transition of the most popular public services to electronic form.
