International logistic center Angren process over 467,000 tonnes of freight in 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A transit-cargo terminal Angren Logistic Center (Tashkent region) processed over 467,381.54 tonnes of cargo in 2010, the company said in a statement.

Angren Logistic Center has been created several years ago in Tashkent region on the base of Ablyk railway station and currently it is one of the large centers in Uzbekistan. The center was created to receive and process goods and deliver them via trucks to Andijan, Namangan and Ferghana regions via Kamchik pass. This pass links continental part of Uzbekistan with three regions of Ferghana Valley.

Currently, International logistic center Angren has warehouses, combined terminals, local railways and branch tracks, expert and financial organizations, hotels and guarding structures. The area of transit-cargo terminal is 8.6 hectares.

Terminal is equipped with railway infrastructure for loading and unloading works. The capacity of the terminal allows to load up 22 containers with storing 60 container and processing up to 1,500 tonnes at warehouse premises.

The terminal includes container area of Uzavtosanoat, which can upload up to 39 trucks of GM Uzbekistan a day. Total area of warehouses of Angren Logistic Center makes up 73,500 square meters. Warehouses are used for storage and distribution of cargoes of Uzkimyosanoat, Nestle Uzbekistan, Uzdonmahsulot, Khorezm Shakar and other organizations.

In line with official data, some 4,308 million tonnes of fright were transported through Kamchick pass in 2010, which is 7.6% more compared to planned volume. Cargoes were owned by ministries, departments, small and medium businesses. Overall 30,546 containers were transported, of which 15,994 containers to Ferghana Valley and 14,552 containers from Ferghana Valley.

Over 300 trucks have been used to transport cargoes. International Logistic Center has 250 lorries, 35 dump-trucks and 25 MAN trucks. In the first quarter of 2011, it is planned to purchase 25 semitrailers, including ten cement carriers, five isothermal and five tented semitrailers

International Logistic Center Angren is planning to increase the volume of processed gods in 2011. To stimulate cargo turnover through logistic center, Uzbekistan Temir Yollari decreased internal tariffs to cargo delivery up from any part of Uzbekistan to Ablyk station by 50%.

Uzbekistan is planning to decrease transit of freights through Tajikistan via transporting goods through Kamchik pass. In September 2000, Uzbekistan completed construction of tunnels from Kamchik and Rezak passes. At construction of 11-km tunnel through Kamchik pass, over 3 million cubic meters of land works were executed and some 39,000 tonnes of asphalt concrete were laid. At the construction of tunnel, over 196,000 cubic meters of sand, 212,000 cubic meters of gravel and 4,500 cubic meters of reinforced concrete, as well as 32,600 tonnes of asphalt.

Tunnels are under electronic observation. Some 69-km cable were laid and modern radio and telephone communication, lightening and fire fighting systems were set. Over 17,000 cars and about 150,000 passengers can pass through tunnel a day.
