International handicraft festivals in Uzbekistan and India establish ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Indian delegation will take part in the first International Festival of Folk Applied Arts, which will be held in Qoqand on 10-15 September 2019.

According to the information of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Delhi, the delegation includes the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the State of Haryana, the head of the organizing committee of Asia’s largest International Handicraft Festival "Surajkund Mela" Vijay Vardhan, the Ambassador for Tourism and Culture of Uzbekistan in India, the famous Indian designer Ritu Bury, and also famous artisans.

Surajkund Mela is one of Asia’s largest handicraft festivals. Over one million participants and visitors from more than 60 countries of the world take part in it annually.

It is expected that in Qoqand, a memorandum will be signed on establishing a partnership between the Surajkund Mela International Handicraft Festival and the Qoqand International Festival of Folk Applied Arts.
