International day of Peace to be observed in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Events dedicated to International Day of Peace, which is observed worldwide on 21 September, will be held in Uzbekistan.

Traditional football tournaments with participation of teams of diplomatic corps in Uzbekistan, NGOs, public, governmental and international organizations will take place on 19 September on the artificial filed of Pakhtakor stadium.

On 20 September, the exhibition of children’s pictures dedicated to International Day of Peace will be opened at the Palace of Youth Art. The exposition will represent painting of children from specialized and general schools of Tashkent, who will share with guests their ideas of peace and friendship.

The organization of these events was due to the funds that were raised during “In the Name of Childhood” Charity Ball, held by the Women’s Council and the Fund Forum on 1 July 2010 in Tashkent.

International Day of Peace 2010 in Uzbekistan will be organized by the Fund Forum, public union “Women’s council”, UNIC, UNESCO, Special Olympics Uzbekistan, Social Initiatives Support Found and Football Federation Uzbekistan.

Holding the International Day of Peace exemplifies how people from different countries and with different capabilities are brought together by sport, culture, friendship and mutual respect, a guarantee of peace across the world.

The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly, resolution A/RES/36/67. In 2001 The United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution A/RES/55/282 establishing the International Day of Peace on 21 of September as a day of observance of global non-violence and ceasefire and urging people all around the world to commemorate the Day as an opportunity to understand problems of peace and share information and experience of peacekeeping. This humanitarian action aims to teach a new generation, which never faced the terrible war.

Events and actions devoted to promotion of peace, good, unity, friendship will be conducted in all countries on September 21. In this day, football matches with common slogan “One Day –One Goal” will take place in 156 countries – members of the Unites Nations Organization.
