International business forum “Do business in Tashkent region” takes place

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 22 August, an International Business Forum “Do business in Tashkent region” was held in Tashkent city.

This event was a unique platform for representatives of various business sectors, with the participation of Tashkent region administration, representatives of ministries and departments of Uzbekistan, as well as diplomats from various countries. About 500 people took part in the forum.

Within the framework of the forum, presentations were made of the region’s economic, investment and tourism potential, an exhibition of products manufactured in Tashkent region was held, and opportunities for increasing the export of various goods to the countries of Central Asia, the CIS and foreign countries were discussed.

The forum also demonstrated the results of the activities of the Angren free economic zone, disclosed information on privileges and preferences for land plots provided. Businessmen, politicians, representatives of international organizations, experts, scientists and journalists exchanged opinions, assessments and forecasts on the state and prospects for the development of Tashkent region, as well as the priority directions of the activities of the regional administration.

The forum on the part of the khokimiyat of Tashkent region voiced proposals on the long-term economic strategy for the development of the region, as well as measures taken to stimulate business and investment activity in order to promote Tashkent region as a promising investment platform.

During the B2B meetings, local and foreign business entities discussed prospective areas of cooperation. A number of bilateral documents were signed for establishment of an industrial zone of several Chinese businesses in Tashkent region and increase the export of agricultural products to Russia.

The agreements were signed to establishe new enterprises in the Angren FEZ , including in the field of the chemical industry, the production of building materials, the creation of clusters in the textile industry and agriculture. Ten memorandums were signed between the enterprises of the People’s Republic of China, South Korea and Japan for the implementation of various projects in Tashkent region for about US$250 million.
