Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of leather and footwear industry enterprises led by the chairman of the Uzcharmsanoat association Fakhriddin Boboev visited the Kilometro Rosso scientific and technological park located in Milan (Italy). The purpose of the visit is to create, using the experience of Italy, similar innovative addresses in the Uzbek leather industry, to establish cooperation between Uzbek and Italian businessmen and researchers.

Kilometro Rosso is one of the largest technology parks in the European Union. It was founded in 2009. Business, innovation and science meet here. The park acts as an agent for the delivery of new technologies to enterprises. Today, about 80 companies, laboratories and research centers operate in this innovative territory. More than 2,500 thousand researchers and employees are working on the invention of new technologies and their implementation in life. To date, 49 projects with a total value of 172 million euros have been financed in 31 laboratories of Kilometro Rosso

During the visit, the delegation of the Uzcharmsanoat association was informed about the research being carried out here in the field of environmental protection, innovations being introduced and scientific research on the creation of new generation technologies in the leather and footwear industry.

In this direction, Kilometro Rosso has established multilateral cooperation with other industries. In particular, technology clusters have been created. Training of personnel for the leather and footwear industry in the field of energy-saving technologies, innovations, ICT, and mechanical engineering has begun here.

During the negotiations, initiatives were voiced to establish cooperation between Kilometro Rosso and the Uzcharmsanoat association to exchange experience and provide technical assistance in creating similar innovation centers in our country.

One of the advantages of the cooperation of the Uzcharmsanoat association with this scientific and technical park is that it enjoys the status of an innovative business incubator in Europe. The technology park’s experience in this regard will be useful in the further development of the leather and footwear industry in our country. Kilometro Rosso also actively cooperates with such international organizations and associations as the International Association of Science Parks and Innovation (IASP), InnovUp - Italian Innovation, Ecosystem Startups, MADE, which in turn will serve as an incentive and assistance for Uzbek enterprises in the implementation of international standards and models in production processes.

As a result of the visit, it was decided to conduct the first round of negotiations as soon as possible on the start of cooperation between the Kilometro Rosso Scientific and Technical Park and the Uzcharmsanoat Association.
