In search of new methods for improving the knowledge of doctors

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- More than 440 doctors completed postgraduate education courses in 2023 at the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health (RSNPMCCHMiR). Of the 21 training courses organized for this purpose, 8 were conducted on-site in the regions of Uzbekistan.

The system of continuous improvement of the knowledge of medical specialists is one of the most important conditions for quality healthcare in the country. Taking into account the special attention to the field from the leadership of the republic in recent years, since 2021, a Department for training and continuous professional development of doctors has been organized in this Republican Medical Center.

This year alone, curricula for 4 thematic advanced training courses for doctors have been developed here, including “Antenatal care based on scientific evidence”, “Emergency obstetric care” and others, and the total number of programs is 11.

In general, the Department is tasked with training clinical residents, postgraduate training of doctors, and participation in the development of national clinical protocols.

The Department also includes such a unit as the Educational Simulation and Training Center. Considering the productivity of this area for developing the skills of doctors, this year alone 6 simulators and trainers were purchased, including the “Pirogov Interactive Table”, the Obstetrics Simulator, the Electronic Test System for Clinical Residency Programs and others.

Along with full-time training, distance learning continues to be used effectively, allowing it to reach an even larger number of medical specialists. Thus, this year, 16 courses were conducted in video conferencing (VCC) format, which were completed by 1,397 participants, the vast majority of whom (1,162) were from the regions of Uzbekistan.

International cooperation of the Russian Scientific and Practical Medical Center, carried out with the participation of the Personnel Training Department, included in the past year participation in three scientific and practical medical forums in St. Petersburg and two in Kazakhstan, as well as joint work with WHO and UNFPA. In particular, WHO experts take part in the development of clinical protocols in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, and with the support of UNFPA, the 2nd Youth Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation for clinical residents and masters was held.

An important result of cooperation with UNFPA was the training of 37 trainers from all regions of the country in the direction of “Antenatal care based on scientific evidence.” These are specialists from primary health care institutions, in particular, clinics, who are now basic trainers for their colleagues. With their help, the management of pregnant women at the level of outpatient services will gradually reach a new level.

Considering the importance of vocational training throughout almost a lifetime, the course “Modern approaches and methods in adult education” was also organized. 20 specialists from among the Department’s employees and trainers of advanced training courses for doctors were trained in relevant skills that improve the effectiveness of teaching to adults.
