Important issues of development of the multimodal transport corridor “Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Türkiye” were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The first meeting of the railway administrations of the countries participating in the multimodal transport corridor “Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Türkiye” was held in Istanbul. Key aspects of the development of this transport route were discussed.

The central issue of discussion was the introduction of competitive tariffs for rail transportation and increasing the volume of freight traffic along the route. The parties expressed the opinion that setting affordable and competitive prices for transportation helps to increase the volume of goods transported.

During the meeting, a corresponding Protocol was signed between the railway administrations of the participating countries. This document represents an important step in the development of the transport corridor, consolidating the agreement of all parties to cooperate and joint efforts for the successful implementation of the project.

The Protocol on the formation of the transport corridor “Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Türkiye” was signed within the framework of the 12th meeting of the ministers of transport of the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization. This corridor is an important element in the development of transport infrastructure and trade relations between the countries of the region.

The development of this multimodal transport route will help strengthen economic ties and expand trade potential between Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran and Türkiye. It also helps improve the accessibility and efficiency of transport in the region, promoting economic development and strengthening cooperation between countries.
