Economy 01/07/2010 IMF mission hold talks at State Property Committee, Tax Committee
State Property Committee
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A mission of International Monetary Fund (IMF) paid a visit to the State Property Committee and the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan last week.

Ms. Taline Koranchelian, Assistant to the Director in the Middle East and Central Asia Department, headed the mission.

During the meeting at the State Property Committee, IMF representatives familiarized with implementation of current programme on privatization and measures on strengthening role of private sector, as well as creating favourable conditions for businesses.

The sides discussed issues on transfer of state property to rent and realization of objects at the zero redemption cost with accepting investment liabilities on creating on their base of production enterprises, which produce export-oriented and import-replacing products with use of modern technologies.

Taline Koranchelian expressed gratitude to the management of State Property Committee and hope for close and fruitful cooperation in future.

In State Tax Committee, the IMF delegation was received by the chairman of the committee Botir Parpiev.

During the meeting, the guests familiarized with reforms in tax sphere, conducted in Uzbekistan for last several years and received information on recent decision of the government on modernization of tax system, as well as changes to tax system and fiscal-tax sphere in 2009-2010.

The IMF delegation also expressed interest to level of tax collection in context of decreasing tax rates for businesses in Uzbekistan.
