IMF and ADB mission to assess the state of tax administration in Uzbekistan11/07/2023 17:53

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 July this year, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Dilshod Sultanov met with representatives of the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), headed by Vincent de Paul Kukpayzan. This was reported by the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The mission included IMF staff Stephen Wesperm and John Middleton, and ADB staff Najam Jawaid and Gou Nagata.

The meeting discussed the main directions of the joint mission of the IMF and ADB to assess the tax administration of Uzbekistan through the TADAT tool.

The main goal of the mission is a diagnostic assessment of the state of tax administration (TADAT), within the framework of which it is supposed to identify strengths and weaknesses in the tax administration system, as well as to determine a program for its further reform and sequence of actions.

In order to maximize data accuracy when assessing the tax administration system, it was also proposed to organize working missions to the regions to study in detail the state of tax administration on the ground.

In turn, Vincent de Paul Kukpaizan thanked Dilshod Sultanov and the Ministry of Economy and Finance for the warm welcome.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to organize additional meetings for the timely resolution of emerging issues during the mission.

TADAT is a tool designed to provide an objective assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the key components of a country’s tax administration system, taking into account nine performance areas. The results of the evaluation show the scope of the required reform and the relative priorities that require attention.
