Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Imam Bukhari Mosque was opened in Indonesia. The mosque was built on the initiative of the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Indonesia for Tourism Eco Sri Margianti and designed by architectural students of Gundarma University.

At the opening of this mosque, the Minister of Tourism and Sports Aziz Abdukhakimov spoke online, recognizing that the construction of the mosque in the name of the great Muhaddis Imam al Bukhari by the Muslims of Indonesia will further strengthen the fraternal ties between the two peoples.

At the opening of the mosque, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Indonesia Ulugbek Rozikulov made a welcoming speech, who presented the mosque with memorable gifts.

This mosque is interesting because it is built on the basis of existing architectural solutions in our country. While the model of the mosque was taken from the Shahi Zinda shrine, a similar approach was applied to the assembly of the mosque's bricks, similar to the Poya Kalon Mosque in Bukhara. On the facade of the mosque there are two minarets, as well as the existing ones in the Hast Imam mosque. The opening of this mosque can serve to promote the rich Islamic heritage of Uzbekistan in Indonesia within the framework of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-6165 “on additional measures for the development of domestic and pilgrimage tourism".

In addition, the State Committee for Tourism Development, the Muslim Administration, the Islamic Academy and the Center for Islamic Civilization, as well as the Ambassador of Pilgrimage Tourism, held a number of events to promote pilgrimage tourism in the Republic of Indonesia.
