Illegal Import of Medicines Prevented in Tashkent Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Operational units of the Customs Department in Tashkent region have prevented the illegal circulation of uncertified pharmaceutical products.

The violation was detected during an operational measure at the “Navoi” border customs post.

Customs officers detained two individuals who had been under prior surveillance. During inspection, it was established that they attempted to smuggle medicines by concealing them on their bodies, in the abdominal and leg areas.

As a result of the search, approximately 10,200 units of pharmaceutical products without quality certification were seized. The preliminary estimated value of the shipment is nearly 160 million soums.

Investigative actions are currently underway in accordance with established procedures.
