Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Ahead of the Global Forum on Sustainable Transport on 24 September in Beijing, negotiations took place between Uzbekistan’s Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov and China’s Transport Minister Li Xiaopeng.

The parties noted that relations between Uzbekistan and China have reached a new level of strategic partnership, with transportation occupying a leading position.

During the talks, Ilkhom Makhkamov addressed several important issues that need to be resolved collaboratively to strengthen mutual cooperation.

In particular, the necessity of holding a ceremony to officially commence the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway was emphasized, as well as signing a new Agreement on International Road Transport and increasing the official quota for the exchange of permit blanks for national carriers.
