Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Director of International Institute of Central Asia (IICA) Javlon Vakhabov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Uzbekistan Amira Fahmy to discuss the prospects of Uzbek-Egyptian cooperation.

At the start of the conversation, the parties acknowledged the positive outcomes of the interaction between the two nations during Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Cairo in February 2023. They agreed to create favourable conditions for mutual investments in industries such as gas chemicals, textiles, electronics, jewellery, and pharmaceuticals.

The sides also highlighted the importance of previous agreements between Uzbekistan and Egypt in developing cultural and humanitarian relations. The two countries agreed to cooperate in training specialists in Arabic and to organise the Global Forum of Arabists this year.

The sides also shared views on current international and regional issues. They noted the dynamic development of mutual support in the framework of international organisations such as the UN, the OIC and the SCO.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to increase communication between research institutes to promote shared regional priorities. The diplomat expressed her willingness to assist in further strengthening IICA’s collaboration with Egypt’s top think tanks.
