IDB issues loan for 195,000 Islamic dinars
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Islamic Development Bank (IDB) approved allocation of no-string technical assistance – grant for 195,000 Islamic dinars to implement a project “Increasing potential Uzinfoinvest Agency under the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan”.

The Government of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution “On measures on implementation of the project “Increasing potential Uzinfoinvest Agency under the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan with the use of no-string technical assistance – grant of the Islamic Development Bank”.

According to the document, the contribution of the Uzbek side to the project will be ensured due to providing tax holidays for purchased goods, works and services, organizational-technical support of Uzinfoinvest, attraction of additional grants of international and foreign organizations.

In line with the terms of the IDB, the grant will be used within two years after the grant agreement between the Government of Uzbekistan and the IDB is signed.

The Government of Uzbekistan entrusted Deputy Minister Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan Shavkat Tulyaganov to sign the grant agreement with the IDB on behalf of the Government of Uzbekistan.

The Government also said Uzinfoinvest will be responsible for effective and targeted use of the IDB technical assistance and timely implementation of the project, while National Bank of Uzbekistan for Foreign Economic Activity will service the grant.

According to the resolution, imported goods due to IDB resources will be exempted from customs payment, while goods purchased in Uzbekistan will be exempted from VAT.

Uzbekistan Havo Yollari and Uzbekistan Temir Yollari were entrusted to provide loading-unloading services and storage of goods, purchased within the IDB grant, for free.

The Uzbek agency for Print and Information was entrusted to register Uzinfoinvest as polygraph enterprise without charging registration fee.
