Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Turkish company IC İçtaş İnşaat has expressed its intention to participate in the construction and reconstruction of highways in Uzbekistan, according to the press service of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
On 15 January, a delegation from IC İçtaş İnşaat met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov and Chairman of the Road Committee Jamshid Tursunov. The delegation included Reha Denemeç, a member of the board of directors of IC İçtaş İnşaat, and Egemen İlkin, Director of Business Development in Construction.
The meeting focused on opportunities to improve Uzbekistan’s transport infrastructure through public-private partnership models. The key achievements of the Turkish company in the construction of roads, bridges, and airports were highlighted.
As a result of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed between IC İçtaş İnşaat and the Road Committee for the project of a new toll road connecting Samarkand and Bukhara via the Navoi region.
The construction project for the Samarkand-Bukhara toll road is part of the public-private partnership development program through 2030, approved by the President of Uzbekistan in August 2024.
The total cost of the project is estimated at US$1 billion. Work is expected to begin in 2027, with the project implementation agreement scheduled for signing in 2030.
In addition, in October 2024, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan instructed to accelerate the construction of toll roads between Tashkent and Andijan and Tashkent and Samarkand. As part of the legislation, a requirement will be introduced for an alternative free route for toll roads.
According to Deputy Minister of Transport Jasurbek Choriev, the Tashkent-Andijan road is planned for completion in 2032, with the project’s cost estimated at US$4.6 billion.
