Hyundai Heavy Industries briefed on Uzbekistan’s labor migration potential

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Senior management at Hyundai Heavy Industries, along with representatives from 185 affiliated shipbuilding companies in South Korea, were presented with detailed insights into Uzbekistan’s labor migration potential.

The presentation highlighted the strong work ethic, responsibility, and discipline demonstrated by Uzbek workers, while emphasizing the importance of strict adherence to contractual obligations.

As part of the visit, a meeting was held with Uzbek nationals currently employed in the city of Ulsan. Participants shared their experiences and voiced concerns, which were discussed in an open dialogue aimed at identifying effective solutions. The meeting also produced valuable suggestions for improving the labor migration experience.

Among the key takeaways from the meeting was advice from Uzbek workers: those wishing to work in South Korea should not only secure formal employment contracts but also continuously improve their professional qualifications—especially by investing effort in learning the Korean language.

During talks with the president of Hyundai, it was noted that the successful launch of training programs in Fergana, based on the Ulsan Vocational Training Center model, creates opportunities for establishing additional training facilities across Uzbekistan.

Discussions are also underway regarding the possibility of training and employing candidates—selected through SPAS platform assessments—not only in shipbuilding but also in other industries, based on interview results.

This initiative marks another step toward enhancing structured labor migration pathways and expanding skills-based employment opportunities for Uzbek citizens in South Korea.
