Huawei in Uzbekistan shared the results of last year and announced plans for 2022

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 May 2022, Huawei held a press briefing for media representatives of Uzbekistan to familiarize themselves with the company’s performance over the past year and plans for 2022.

A press briefing was held at the Huawei office in Uzbekistan with media representatives of Uzbekistan to get acquainted with the company’s activities in 2021. The reporters were introduced to the new CEO, Mr. Chen Jiakai, who took over the leadership of the company from March 2021.

“I am glad that Huawei in Uzbekistan has a good tradition of holding briefings with journalists, sharing the results of its activities and future plans. Let me express my gratitude for the opportunity to organize a meeting with you today, on the Day of Communications Workers, and congratulate you on this holiday. ICT technologies have become an integral part of the development of any sphere of life, various industries and directions. And the contribution that ICT specialists make to strengthening the country’s infrastructure is a contribution to the sustainable development of the future,” said Chen Jiakai, director of Huawei in Uzbekistan.

During the briefing, Huawei presented a brief description of the projects implemented and launched in the field of telecommunications development in 2021 with the participation of the company, and also shared information on social projects to support education and environmental protection. For example, a “smart” agriculture project was implemented jointly with the National Research University “Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers” and the national communications operator Uztelecom using control, monitoring and data processing systems based on 5G technologies, the Internet of things, smart sensors and big data intelligence platforms. This project has demonstrated the possibilities of improving the rational use of natural resources and improving the efficiency of crop monitoring through the introduction of innovative technologies in the field of agriculture and water management. The project also became part of the Green Uzbekistan initiative launched by the company in 2020.

As part of the Green Uzbekistan initiative, Huawei has joined two eco-projects: the Green Aral Sea project of the United Nations Development Program and the Bir Million Darakht project launched by the Yuksalish National Movement. Within two years, the Green Aral Sea project provided support for the purchase and planting of 30,000 saxaul seedlings for landscaping the bottom of the Aral Sea, and in cooperation with Yuksalish, trees were planted on the territory of the Children’s National Medical Center, Friendship Park and near the village Karankul, Bostanlyk region. Huawei intends to continue to contribute to the sustainable development of Uzbekistan by exercising corporate social responsibility to protect the environment.

One of the main areas of support for sustainable development is also the education sector. In 2021, Huawei held an annual global training project "Seeds for the Future", which was attended by 25 students from Uzbekistan from universities with IT areas. The project provided an opportunity for participants to improve their knowledge in the field of ICT technologies, listen to lectures from international experts on advanced technologies, exchange cultural values with participants from other countries, and learn about the traditions and culture of China. In November of this year, the eighth project for students of Uzbekistan will take place.

Last year, projects were also implemented to support the sphere of secondary and public education. Thus, a scholarship competition for the best knowledge of the Chinese language was organized at school No. 59 in Tashkent, and already at the beginning of this year, the material base was updated in two classrooms of school No. 42 in the Dungan village.

In 2022, the company has plans to continue cooperation in strengthening the ICT infrastructure with local telecom operators and partners, as well as to implement projects with the support of the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan within the framework of the concluded memorandum. A memorandum with the Ministry of ICT was signed during the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona in March 2022 and is aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation, providing consulting support and developing White Papers on the topic of e-government, artificial intelligence and BPO development in Uzbekistan, as well as the implementation of a joint social project.

In turn, the Huawei Consumer division this year introduces novelties in the Uzbek market among smart devices, such as smartphones, laptops and tablets, wearable electronics, mobile broadband devices that can create enhanced intelligent interaction capabilities of HUAWEI devices and provide a new experience for users in Uzbekistan.
