Huawei and UZTELECOM intend to expand cooperation in strengthening the ICT infrastructure of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The national communications operator UZTELECOM and Huawei, with the support of the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications, signed agreements aimed at expanding cooperation in strengthening the ICT infrastructure of Uzbekistan.

During the state visit of the President of the People’s Republic of China to Uzbekistan, in the city of Samarkand, a meeting was held between the director of Huawei in Uzbekistan Chen Jiakai and the general director of Uzbektelecom JSC Nazirjon Khasanov to discuss current projects in the field of strengthening the ICT infrastructure of Uzbekistan, and also outlined plans to expand cooperation to speedy implementation of the strategy "Digital Uzbekistan 2030".

With the support of the Ministry for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the parties entered into agreements, outlining plans for the development of UZTELECOM infrastructure, including strengthening the operator’s transport networks, expanding mobile coverage and increasing broadband Internet coverage in cities and rural areas, as well as introducing cloud solutions and service platforms. Ultimately, the implementation of the planned projects under the agreements will improve user experience, improve the quality of services provided to the operator’s subscribers, provide ubiquitous communications in remote areas and accelerate the digital transformation of all sectors of the economy and life of Uzbekistan.

“Huawei has been operating in Uzbekistan for over 23 years, being a strategic partner of the national telecom operator UZTELECOM. Over the years, many state-significant projects have been jointly implemented to strengthen the ICT industry, contributing to the digital development of all industries and activities in the country. This is evidenced by our recent projects to launch 5G in the tourist complex of Samarkand, which is receiving high-ranking guests these days as part of the SCO summit, as well as joint work on the launch of a single data storage and processing center of the Electronic Government system. The agreements concluded today outlined areas for further cooperation and strengthened our intentions to contribute to the digital development of Uzbekistan,” said Chen Jiakai, Director of Huawei in Uzbekistan.

Over the years of its activity in Uzbekistan, Huawei has established cooperation with all local telecom operators and is actively involved in projects to develop the ICT industry. In addition to implementing activities in the provision of solutions and services for the operator segment, the company focuses on the sustainable development of the country through the introduction of "green" technologies based on renewable energy sources and interaction with educational institutions in the field of training and development of IT personnel. Thus, agreements on cooperation with Samarkand State University and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy have recently been reached.
