The statement said that exceptions are cases when payment is made using international banking cards (VISA, Master Card, etc.).
State Tourism Committee recalled that the President of Uzbekistan signed a decree on priority measures for the liberalization of monetary policy. The document prohibits payment in cash foreign currency on the territory of Uzbekistan. The document also said that prices and tariffs in Uzbekistan are established only in national currency.
It also set that citizens of Uzbekistan should not make payments to tourist operators in cash hard currency for services, provided by tourism operators abroad.
The above requirements do not apply to payments to hotel and tourist business entities from outside of Uzbekistan, carried out by transfer of foreign currency.
To prevent overstatement of prices, the State Tourism Committee ordered the subjects of tourist activity to keep current prices in soums for Uzbek citizens, and if they were determined on the basis of the US dollar rate, fix them at the level of the exchange rate, which was in force at the time of signing the decree of the President (4210.35 soums).
Hotels and other accommodation facilities were recommended to set prices independently with calculation in national currency in providing services to foreign citizens.
