“HOTEL BUSINESS FORUM-2024”: training of personnel in the hospitality industry

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The second day of the HOTEL BUSINESS FORUM-2024 has ended, bringing together more than 400 leading specialists in the field of the hotel business, tourism and related industries from the USA, Russia, Europe, Southeast and Central Asia.

During the third session, “Investing in personnel as a catalyst for the growth of the hospitality industry,” experts discussed issues of personnel training in the field of tourism and hospitality, technological innovation and digital transformation in the hotel business. In addition, new technologies, services and products of partner companies were presented.

Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Tourism Sardor Niyazov, during the opening of the next session of the forum, noted that over the past 3 years, the number of higher educational institutions specializing in training personnel in the field of tourism has increased from 16 to 30, and the number of students studying in them has increased from 4,100 to 11,500 Human.

“In 2020, the scientific potential of teachers teaching in the field of tourism in universities amounted to 24.2 percent, while last year this figure reached 37.6 percent,” said Sardor Niyazov. “In order to establish international cooperation in personnel training, a dialogue was established with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation to improve the qualifications of teachers training personnel in the field of tourism.”

Speaking about the state of the education sector in the tourism sector, the rector of the Management Development Institute of Singapore in Tashkent (MDIS), Ilkhom Mamatkulov, emphasized: “By investing in human resources and making our active efforts to develop the tourism sector of Uzbekistan, we hope for even greater achievements in the coming years.”

The forum included interactive B2B and G2B meetings, specialized workshops, and an exhibition of products and services for the hotel and restaurant business (HoReCa).

Following the results of the “HOTEL BUSINESS FORUM-2024”, the Association of Hoteliers of Uzbekistan signed memorandums of understanding and cooperation with the Public Association “Association of Hotels of Azerbaijan”, Margilan College of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, Andijan Professional College of Tourism and Service, Tashkent College of Tourism and Business, as well as Tashkent College of Tourism and Hotel Management.
