The Honduran Foreign Ministry said Thursday that Honduras and Uzbekistan have normalized their diplomatic relations, Xinhua reported.

The Honduran ambassador to the United Nations Ivan Romero Martinez and his Uzbek counterpart Alisher Vohidov signed the joint communique to normalize diplomatic relations in a ceremony held at the UN headquarters on Monday.

The two countries "have decided to develop friendship and cooperative relations based on the UN Charter and international norms," said the communique.
