Historical archival documents of Uzbekistan are included in the UNESCO International Memory of the World Register for 2022-2023

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 10 to 24 May 2023, at the 216th meeting of the UNESCO Executive Board, a decision was made to expand the Memory of the World International Register.

According to the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan, two documents were included in the list from Uzbekistan: “Archival collection of Kushbegi’s cabinet of the Bukhara Emirate” (National Archive of Uzbekistan) and “Works of Mavlono Jalaluddin Rumi” (Al-Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan ).

“Archival collection of Kushbegi’s cabinet of the Bukhara Emirate” is the largest archive of the rulers of Bukhara. It includes documents reflecting the historical events that took place on the territory of present-day Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and partly Afghanistan for over 200 years.

"The Works of Mavlono Jalaluddin Rumi" is a complete collection of the works of the poet, philosopher, scholar and theologian Mavlono Jalaluddin Rumi, who was considered one of the great Sufi teachers who lived in the 13th century. The document was prepared in cooperation with Bulgaria, Germany, Iran, Tajikistan and Turkey.

The Memory of the World Program was founded by UNESCO in 1992 to preserve the valuable archival and library collections of the world and to widely disseminate information about the treasures stored in them.
