“The health of the nation is the main wealth of any state and the basis for the prosperity of every country. Our most important common task is to do everything possible to strengthen it and improve the well-being of our peoples. We are pleased to note the high level of representativeness of our forum. Today many of the best doctors and healthcare organizers from Belarus and Uzbekistan have gathered here. It is thanks to them that national health care systems are largely built and function successfully. The platform of our forum is a great opportunity not only to meet, but also to share rich experience, and most importantly, to combine efforts and capabilities in solving common pressing problems,” Igor Petrishenko addressed the participants of the plenary session.

He noted that from 13 to 24 November, trips of Belarusian medical teams to Uzbekistan were organized. “Our specialists, in close cooperation with Uzbek colleagues, carried out several high-tech operations and provided patients with advisory medical care. Belarusian cardiac surgeons, oncologists, and pediatric surgeons conducted a number of master classes on prosthetics of the aortic and mitral valves, the ascending aorta, as well as on diagnostic searches in oncology, hematology and immunology. Particular attention was paid to pediatric patients," said Igor Petrishenko.

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus also added that he hopes that Belarusian doctors will study and apply the approaches of Uzbek specialists aimed at supporting positive demographic trends in the country. “We are ready to expand and systematically build such interaction, including in organizing closer working contacts - both within the framework of visits of our specialists to your country, and by inviting Uzbek colleagues to us in Belarus. I know that good experience in such work There is. About 30 specialists from various hospitals in Uzbekistan have already completed internships at the International Scientific and Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantology and Hematology. Moreover, there is an initiative to organize a branch of our center in Uzbekistan so that we can clearly structure our work, including providing the necessary assistance and assistance Uzbek friends,” noted Igor Petrishenko.

According to him, 46 patients from Uzbekistan received high-tech medical care at the International Research Center for Surgery, Transplantation and Hematology, including 3 liver transplants and 10 kidney transplants. The potential for further joint work in this direction is quite large. “I am confident that our joint efforts in the field of preserving and strengthening women’s health will be no less fruitful. The corresponding agreements between the Republican Scientific and Practical Center “Mother and Child” and regional perinatal centers of Uzbekistan have been prepared and will be signed today,” Igor Petrishenko emphasized.

“Of course, the most important area of cooperation is the training of medical personnel. Belarusian medical higher education institutions have everything they need and are ready for a multiple increase in the enrollment of Uzbek students who want to devote themselves to the medical profession. In general, today we see the prospect of intensifying bilateral cooperation in such key areas as cardiology, oncology, transplantology, pediatric surgery, maternal and child health, as well as in the pharmaceutical industry and the supply of medical products,” added Igor Petrishenko.

In his opinion, discussions at the forum will help find answers to many pressing issues of modern healthcare, and the agreements reached will contribute to strengthening the traditionally friendly ties between Belarus and Uzbekistan. “We will take into consideration the proposals that will be made from our Uzbek friends and will definitely take them into account in organizing the appropriate types of medical care. I think sincere interest should have a very powerful effect, and this format of our interaction will continue in the future,” concluded Igor Petrishenko.
