Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 July 2023, Tashkent hosted a meeting between the Head of the CIS Observer Mission, CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev and the Head of the SCO International Observer Mission, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The parties exchanged views on the course of monitoring the preparation and conduct of early elections of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, noting that all conditions have been created in the republic for the work of international observers.

Sergey Lebedev spoke about the principles and procedures for the work of the Mission from the CIS. This is the objectivity of observation, non-interference in the course of the electoral process and in the internal affairs of the state. “The objective of the Mission is to collect complete and reliable information about all stages of the election campaign. And based on it, draw a conclusion about the compliance of the process of preparing and holding elections with national legislation,” the head of the CIS Observer Mission emphasized.

Zhang Ming shared his observations on the course of the election campaign, spoke about the composition of the Mission of international observers from the SCO, noted the high-quality work carried out in the Republic of Uzbekistan in organizing the election campaign and expressed confidence in the need and usefulness of meetings of the heads of Missions in the framework of monitoring elections and referendums.
