Uzbekistan 24/01/2008 Heads of CIS foreign ministries’ divisions hold talks in Minsk

The representatives of the foreign affairs ministries of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republics of Uzbekistan and Ukraine, as well as the representatives of the CIS Executive Committee headed by its Chairman, Executive Secretary of the CIS S. Lebedev participated in the talks.

The participants of the meeting discussed the tasks the foreign political agencies of the CIS member-states are facing, particularly those concerning the implementation of the provisions of the CIS Development Concept and the Action Plan for its implementation, the press service informed.

During the meeting, the representatives of the foreign political agencies also discussed the implementation of the plan of multi-level inter-departmental consultations within the frame of the Commonwealth of Independent States for 2007, agreed on the project of the Plan of Consultations for 2008, and discussed the issues concerning the organization of the meeting of the Council of the Heads of CIS member-states in 2008.

Participants of the talks approved the proposal of the CIS Executive Committee and the Council of Standing Authorised Representatives of the CIS member states under the chartered and other agencies of the Commonwealth on the formation of the Task Group which would process the documents related to the mechanism of functioning f the Commonwealth and its organizational improvement. The group will hold its first meeting on 25-26 February this year.
