Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During the meeting held in Almaty, the heads of the border services of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization developed common methods for combating terrorism. This information is provided by the press service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

“On 5 July 2023, the 9th meeting of the heads of border services and competent authorities of the SCO member states was held in Almaty. Issues of the situation on the state borders of the SCO member countries were considered; summed up the results of joint border operations; work plans for 2024 were discussed, and common measures were developed to counter current challenges and threats related to terrorism, arms and drug smuggling, illegal migration and other challenges,” the ministry said.

The event was attended by representatives of the border services of India, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan, China, Uzbekistan, as well as observers from Mongolia and Belarus. The meeting was attended by observers from the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops of the CIS member states and the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the SCO.
