Head of World Toilet Organization Praises Uzbekistan’s Sanitation Infrastructure

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Jack Sim, founder and director of the World Toilet Organization, has arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit.

The primary purpose of the visit is to support the development of sanitation infrastructure, promote hygiene standards, and facilitate the exchange of international best practices in water and sanitation management.

During his trip, special attention was given to modern design and maintenance of public restrooms, particularly in high-traffic tourist areas and educational institutions. Jack Sim emphasized that sanitation facilities should not only be functional but also ensure safety, accessibility, and comfort for all population groups — including women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

The delegation visited several tourist attractions and UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara regions, as well as in the capital city, conducting a sanitary audit of tourist zones. Based on the findings, a set of recommendations was developed to further enhance the country’s sanitation systems, including the integration of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient technologies.

Concluding the visit, Jack Sim expressed confidence in Uzbekistan’s strong potential to achieve sustainable progress in sanitation. He also reaffirmed the World Toilet Organization’s commitment to long-term cooperation and proposed hosting the World Toilet Summit in Uzbekistan in 2026.
