Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the XXIII session of the World Tourism Assembly, held in St. Petersburg, acting chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Akkulov met with the director of Pas Grau International Management (PGI Management) ) Mariano Hervas.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on 2 points. The company provides financial support for projects to create tourist clusters “Zomin”, “Boysun” and “Nanay”, promoting the project to attract investors, as well as attracting grants / loans from international financial institutions on mutually beneficial conditions.

During the event, the Director of PGI Management also shared his vision of the development of tourist zones, taking into account the need to diversify the types of tourism in Uzbekistan. Mariano Hervas emphasized Uzbekistan’s enormous potential in this direction, expressing its willingness to assist in the preparation of master plans, in addition to the three above-mentioned projects, as well as other regions of our country, including the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Ferghana Valley.

In addition, during his visit to St. Petersburg, Abdulaziz Akkulov met with Olga Novitskaya, Managing Director of URPEAK, a hotel services company.

Number of tourists visiting Uzbekistan increases, quality service and staffing issues become important. Olga Novitskaya during a meeting with Mr Akkulov proposed to conduct a webinar with the participation of representatives of the State Committee for Tourism Development and hotel employees in order to improve the skills of hotel staff, determine the professional level of Uzbek specialists in this field, based on this, develop and coordinate proposals for improving the system.

Abdulaziz Akkulov also met with the director of the Rossiya National Congress Bureau, Alexei Kalachev. Alexey Kalachev expressed readiness for cooperation in organizing a congress and exhibition center in Uzbekistan, organized on the basis of Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 5781, in establishing consulting activities in them.

At a meeting with the director of the representative office of TMI Consultancy in Russia, Helena Lloyd, an agreement was reached on concluding a marketing plan to promote the tourism potential of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation. The plan is drawn up for a one-year period taking into account the wishes of Russian tourists.

“Lloyd is preparing a plan in the next 1-2 months, when the document is approved, the process of its implementation will begin in November. Moreover, the focus will be on increasing the number of tourists traveling from Russia to Uzbekistan during the New Year holidays,” Abdulaziz Akkulov said.
