The parties examined the issues of bilateral relations in light of development of the dialogue between Uzbekistan and European Union, which has been given a new impetus by the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to Brussels and the negotiations with the leadership of the European Commission in January 2011.
The sides also reviewed the course of implementation of the EU Strategy in Central Asia, the Ministry Foreign Affairs said.
During the talks the mutual interest in carrying out prospective joint projects, extending trade-economic and investment links, establishing direct contacts between the business circles was mentioned.
In 2011 the mutual trade increased for almost 20% and constituted US$2.367 billion. Today 841 enterprises with EU capital operate and 266 representative offices of leading EU companies are accredited in Uzbekistan.
Significant regional and international problems were also considered during the meeting.
