Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The head of the Emergency Situations Department of Pap district in Namangan region has been arrested by law enforcement officers while receiving US$160,000 in bribes.

He had promised to arrange the purchase of 2 hectares of land, allocated by the district hokim's decision in February 2021 for a lemon greenhouse to be set up by five of his relatives.

He also committed to securing a permit for the construction of cottages on the land using his official connections.

An criminal case has been initiated against him under paragraph "a" of part 4 of article 25,168 and paragraph "b" of part 2 of article 28,211 of the Criminal Code, and investigations are ongoing.
