Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Following her participation in the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, renowned Uzbek judoka Gulnoza Matniyazova officially announced her retirement from professional sports.

Matniyazova, who is approaching her 30th birthday, has been a prominent figure in representing Uzbekistan at the Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024 Olympics, as well as at three Asian Games, World Championships, Grand Slam tournaments, and Grand Prix events.

At the Paris Olympics, Matniyazova competed in the mixed team events, successfully defeating opponents from three national teams, ending her career on a high note. For her achievements, she was awarded the "Shuhrat" medal.

Gulnoza Matniyazova has made a significant impact on the development of women’s judo in Uzbekistan. Her success and example have inspired hundreds of girls in the country to take up judo, following in the footsteps of their idol. 

The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan expressed its gratitude to the accomplished judoka for her outstanding performances and wished her health and success in her future endeavors.
