Belgium outplayed South Korea with the score 1-0. Jan Vertonghen scored only goal of the match on 78 minutes.

Algeria played a 1-1 draw with Russia to advance to next round of the tournament. Alexander Kokorin had put the Russians ahead after just six minutes with a towering header from Oleg Shatov’s cross. But another goalkeeping error from Igor Akinfeev saw Islam Slimani head home unopposed at the back post and Algeria clung on.

Belgium topped the Group H with nine points and will face the USA in last 16. The match will take place on 2 July.

Algeria finished on the second place and will play against Germany on 1 July.
