Grodno and Samarkand regions intend to develop cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 February, the head of the Grodno region Vladimir Karanik and the khokim of Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov held a meeting in Samarkand within the framework of the II Forum of Regions of Uzbekistan and Belarus.

During the meeting, prospects for developing cooperation between the regions were discussed. The head of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee noted the growing potential for interaction between the regions, Belta reports.

The parties discussed issues of increasing trade turnover. Grodno region supplies food products (cattle meat, cheeses, whey, baby food), wood processing and petrochemical products to Uzbekistan. In turn, Uzbekistan exports nuts, fruits, yarn, fabrics and textiles to Grodno.

Uzbekistan ranks third in the ranking of trade turnover of Grodno region among the CIS countries and fourth among all countries in the world. Regional authorities of both sides expressed interest in the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
