“Greenest Mahalla” competition to be held in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A number of activities are being carried out in the country in order to improve the environmental situation and prevent the negative impact of transboundary hot winds and dust and sand storms on the environment.

Over the past period, within the framework of the national project “Yashil Makon”, 588 hectares of “green parks”, 622 hectares of “green public parks”, as well as “green belts” around the cities of Bukhara, Nukus, Khiva and Urgench with a total length of 40 km have been created.

At the same time, the effective continuation of the implementation of this national project requires the adoption of urgent measures today.

In order to further popularize the national project “Yashil Makon” in Uzbekistan, improve the public administration system and widely introduce advanced technologies in the field of ecology, as well as ensure the implementation of the tasks defined by the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy:

The annual holding of the competition “The Greenest Mahalla” is provided, as well as the encouragement at the expense of the Ecological Fund of 14 mahallas, which, according to the results of the competition, became winners, by:

- transfers of 500 million soums to the corresponding mahalla fund for planting and watering trees, as well as the creation of “green public parks”;

- purchase and delivery of one electric vehicle to self-government bodies of citizens for use for official purposes.
