Great need for waste processing in Andijan, special industrial technology park in Tashkent - investment potential of various regions

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Information about the investment potential of the regions of Uzbekistan was presented at the International Investment Forum in Tashkent.

Over the past six years, Uzbekistan has attracted about US$50 billion in foreign investment. Last year, GDP and industry grew by 6 percent.

During the discussions, opinions were expressed about which sectors of the country are profitable to invest in and which investment projects and little-known sectors are in demand among investors in Uzbekistan.

First Deputy Head of the Department of Investment, Industry and Trade of the City of Tashkent Azizkhan Shavkatov said that in the capital much attention is paid to the development of projects in the field of service and tourism.

“Last year 2023, 4.5 million tourists visited Tashkent. These numbers are growing from year to year. Therefore, the demand for hotels is growing. Taking this into account, first of all we need to create a tourism infrastructure. We are waiting for proposals from investors in this direction.

We also began work on the project of a huge special industrial technology park “Yangi Khayot”, in the Yangi Khayot district of the capital of the same name.

Here we are turning all enterprises into industry cluster areas. It is also planned to build a logistics center on 100 hectares there. This will allow us to sort and distribute manufactured products on site,” said Azizkhan Shavkatov.

In his speech, Deputy Head of the Department of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Jizzakh Region, Aziz Ibragimov, said that the region has all the necessary capabilities to launch a project worth US$30 million for the production of building slabs from rocks.

“There are three large economic industrial zones in the Jizzakh region. In particular, in the economic industrial zone “Zomin Farm” we have the opportunity to establish the production of disposable medical products worth US$20 million,” said Aziz Ibratimov.

The head of the department of investment, industry and trade of the Bukhara region, Muhammadjon Raikhanov, noted that the region has a large number of sources of non-metallic materials, which will allow the production of construction products to be established.

A representative of Andijan region noted that there is a need for new waste recycling projects in the region.

“Waste recycling in Andijan is not well organized. About 2.7 million tons of waste are collected annually. This investment project can pay off in 3 years if US$30 million is invested in this area. Also, during the year the region purchases 55 tons of chocolate worth US$155 million. We are ready for negotiations on launching projects in this area. We have a great need for the production of ceramic tableware and auto parts from kaolin raw materials,” said a representative of Andijan region.
