Grape plantations to be organized according to the "Altyaryk experience"

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures aimed at further development of viticulture and winemaking in 2023-2026" was adopted.

According to the decree, in 2023-2024:

new vineyards will be planted on an area of 187,614 hectares;

in 51 districts and cities of the republic, on the basis of the "Altyaryk Experience", grape plantations of 2-2.5 thousand hectares will be organized.

From 1 August 2023:

It is allowed to lay new vineyards, prepare seedlings and "in-vitro", implement projects to create new laboratories at the expense of the State Fund for Agricultural Support, directed to the cultivation of fruits, grapes, vegetables, potatoes, melons, flowers, herbs and medicinal plants, corn cereals, legumes and oilseeds.

At the same time, the Fund’s resources will be placed in the Qishloq Qurilish Bank as a resource at the main rate of the Central Bank, and the project initiators will be allocated a commercial loan for a period of 10 years (with a 5-year grace period) with a margin of no more than 2%;

The Agency for the provision of services in agriculture will provide services to entrepreneurs in carrying out agrotechnical activities on vineyards, laying new vineyards and other types of services.

At the same time, projects for laying new vineyards on areas from 1 to 10 hectares are financed directly by the Agency, and projects for large vineyards are implemented through loans from Qishloq Qurilish Bank;

compensation and guarantees are provided for the creation of technical vineyards and the production of alcoholic products from grapes, fruits and berries.

Until 1 February 2024, about 100 specialists from scientific institutions of foreign countries with advanced viticulture and reputable international organizations will be involved. In the "in-vitro" laboratories, it is planned to organize experiments on the adaptation of 34 varieties of frost-resistant, seedless, high-yielding grape varieties imported from abroad, adapted to the natural and climatic conditions of the republic.

According to the document, measures will be taken to open national trading wine houses in foreign countries to sell wines under the Made in Uzbekistan brand and develop the export of wine products.

By the adopted resolution in the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, the Department for Regulation of the Market of Alcoholic and Tobacco Products and State Control was established.

This department receives the authority to issue licenses for the production of food and technical ethyl alcohol, alcoholic and tobacco products, suspend or terminate the license, and is also responsible for organizing its cancellation and re-registration.
